Regina Ann Hicks – Anne Arundel Death Obituary: Anne Community Mourn

What started as a normal Tuesday morning commute quickly turned into a heartbreaking tragedy in southern Anne Arundel County on April 7, 2026. The community of Prince Frederick has been left shaken after a serious multi-vehicle crash took the life of 54-year-old Regina Ann Hicks.

The accident happened around 7:20 a.m. on Solomons Island Road (Route 2), just south of Polling House Road in Harwood. According to police, this was not a simple crash but a chain reaction involving three vehicles that unfolded in a matter of seconds.

Authorities say the incident began when a 2021 Dodge Challenger, driven by a 19-year-old from West River, was heading northbound and struck the back of a 2010 Nissan Xterra driven by Hicks. The impact was extremely forceful—far more than a typical rear-end collision. The hit pushed Hicks’s vehicle forward with such intensity that it crossed over the center line into oncoming traffic.

At the same time, a 2019 Toyota 4Runner driven by a 30-year-old woman from Chesapeake Beach was traveling southbound. With almost no time to react, the driver was unable to avoid the situation, and the SUV crashed head-on into Hicks’s vehicle. The second impact made an already devastating situation even worse, crushing the Nissan between the two vehicles.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but the damage was severe. Regina Ann Hicks tragically lost her life in the crash, while the other drivers were taken to hospitals for treatment. The suddenness and intensity of the collision have left many in the community stunned.

Investigators are still working to determine exactly what caused the initial crash, including whether speed or other factors played a role. For now, the focus remains on understanding what happened and supporting those affected by this tragic loss.
